DC has not been having the best of luck with for their movies lately (Rotten Tomatoes…) I think they can turn it around if they hop on the thirteen episode Netflix series bandwagon like Marvel has with Daredevil and such, then they can possibly has some smash hits!
Here are some DC characters that are worthy of a Netflix show.
#10 Katana
Katana was easily one of the more interesting characters in “Suicide Squad”. I feel like she has so much untapped potential to be a REALLY good character for the DCEU. She is a pretty interesting character in the comics, and “Suicide Squad” only touched on that stuff. Now don’t get me wrong, a woman hunting down the man who killed her husband might not be interesting to fill a thirteen or so episode series; but make it a mini series (say eight or so episodes.), and DC can pull her off. Katana doesn’t really have a lot of villains, but throw in say Bronze Tiger, or Lady Shiva, and it will work.
#9 Firestorm
Firestorm (I think), would be really visually stunning and a great edition to the DCEU. I think DC should ditch Dr. Stein (since he’s in the CW universe), and go with Ronnie Raymond and Jason Rusch; I feel like these two will make a really good pair and can bring some comedic relief to the DCEU. I see this series being similar to a buddy cop kinda thing where they have to learn to work together in one body. The first season can follow them learning their powers and getting use to being Firestorm. I would say the villain of the season can be Maxwell Lord or Killer Frost; but those two might not happen because “Supergirl” is using Maxwell Lord and “The Flash” is using Caitlin Snow (Killer Frost). Maybe they can get away with Multiplex? He might not be an interesting villain to use, but I think he would be a good starter villain for Firestorm. maybe, further down the line they can use Killer Frost. Now Firestorm might not happen due to the special effects that will be required for a hero like him, but boy would it be stunning!
#8 Blue Beetle (Ted Kord)
The Ted Kord Blue Beetle would be a good Batman-style edition to the cinematic universe. By Batman-style edition, I mean he’s been The Blue Beetle for a couple of years, but he’s light-hearted (like The Flash.) and not so…brutal. The series can be about Ted then maybe he dies in battle then the mantle gets passed onto Jaime Reyes. Maybe Booster Gold can make an appearance or two in this series and we can get some of that Booster Gold, Blue Beetle action going. I think Chronos would be a good villain and can provide a challenge for Ted. Yes, he is an Atom villain but when he (Atom) retired, Chronos went on to cause trouble for Ted. Now Ted might not happen because I something with Blue Beetle/Booster Gold is in the works, so I highly doubt this would happen.
#7 Booster Gold

Like Blue Beetle, Booster Gold can provide some light heartedness to the DC cinematic universe; but Booster’s comedy style could be similar to the MCU style comedy, serious yet funny. I feel like with the success of a “Legends of Tomorrow”, The DCEU could benefit from a time traveling superhero like Booster Gold. Now I don’t picture the series to be a dead on copy of LoT, I see it along the lines of Booster travels back in time to fight some time traveling villain and gets stuck in this time period (whenever this would happen). For villains, Chronos would be a good villain for a Booster Gold series; I would suggest Vandal Savage…but LoT already did that and I think the cinematic universe should attempt not to use villains that have been used by the CW.
#6 Martian Manhunter
The Martian Manhunter might be a tough one to pull off; but if Supergirl can do it, then Netflix can do it too! The series would cover J’onn arriving on earth and getting use to life on it/learning to live with humans and work with humans and becoming Detective John Jones. Possibly the only challenge to this being a series is giving Martian Manhunter stuff to do for a thirteen or so episode series. I do think that if they choose the right villain, they can pull off the series. The Human Flame would be a perfect villain to start off with. He has the potential to be made into a very sinister character. Now could J’onn come the DCEU? I would say possibly due to him being on “Supergirl”… but since “Supergirl” is using Superman (yes it’s for two episodes and whenever else, but it counts.), I think the movies can use Martian Manhunter. And let’s all be honest here…how cool would it be to see MM work with the Justice League?
#5 Constantine (Photo credit: Project Casting)
Constantine…where to begin with this guy? I think he has the potential to be really something in the comic book entertainment industry. Yes, he had a movie (It was alright. Had Keanu Reeves, that was a plus) and a TV show. Now a 20 something episode TV show was the wrong move for DC, don’t get me wrong it was a good show but after a little bit it got old (pretty much “Paranormal Activity” every episode”.) But give this a thirteen episode series on Netflix and we got something here! With the success of “Stranger Things”, Netflix would benefit from another paranormal, mystery type show, and Constantine would fit the bill. I believe Colin Farrell is still playing Constantine in the “Justice League Dark” movie. If he isn’t, Matt Ryan would be perfect! Now for the villain of the series, they have a WIDE variety of choices; But two good candidates are Papa Midnite (anyone want Michael James Shaw back? He killed it as Midnite!) or Felix Faust, they have the potential to REALLY give Constantine a run for his money. This all depends on the Justice League Dark movie, I think all the characters (but Swamp Thing) could use a Netflix spinoff.
#4 Nightwing (Photo credit: Polygon)
After “The Dark Knight Rises”, I was pretty sure I heard people praying for a Nightwing movie/spin off with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. And now since we have a gritty, aged Batman…people are now really wanting to see Nightwing in the DCEU. I personally think that Nightwing can work as a Netflix series. He is a interesting enough character to have a thirteen episode series; he’s just worthy overall! I picture this Nightwing similar to Batman, a crime fighting veteran, he’s been Nightwing for a while (pending on when he left Batman) and he’s had some experience under his belt. Now if any of these shows deserved flashbacks…it would be this one. The flashbacks can show Dick’s rise to Nightwing and the wedge that gets driven between him and Bruce. We can use a wide range of villains for Nightwing. I would say Deathstroke but I got a different idea for him (jump ahead to number two if you want *wink* *wink*). Brother Blood would be a good replacement; he would just work over all. Another good villain would be Blockbuster! Possibly the only thing from this being a thing is if DC will do a Nightwing movie or the rumored (just recently) Titans series or just having him appear in a solo Batman movie.
#3 Green Arrow and Black Canary
Now this is something that REALLY needs to happen. Let’s all be honest, “Arrow” is screwed, unless Guggenheim and company get their heads outta their asses and fix the show. A lot of people are wanting Green Arrow to be in the DCEU and I want him in it too (he’s already confirmed to exist in the DCEU.)
I do like the TV show idea for him and Netflix would really work well for him, but I would make it about him and Black Canary instead of just about him solely. Green Arrow and Black Canary are one of the best comic book couples to date (next to Antman and Wasp), and Green Arrow and Black Canary would translate to well into the DCEU. What else can I say to convince you guys? They can REALLY work. For villains, Green Arrow and Black Canary have many. One route they can go is the Merlyn route, but I’m pretty sure some of us are sick of Merlyn due to “Arrow”, but I feel like the DCEU can give the character a fresh start! If they wanna avoid Merlyn and still go with the anti Green Arrow kinda thing, then I suggest Komodo. He can provide a real challenge for Green Arrow and Black Canary. If they want to ditch the archer vs. archer thing, they can even go as far as using Count Vertigo or Brick! Possibly the one thing that could keep this from happening is “Arrow”, but hopefully they can work something out and we can see some Green Arrow and Black Canary in the DCEU.
#2 Deathstroke (Photo credit: DC Comics)
Deathstroke is possibly my all time favorite DC supervillain. He’s just a badass! The dude took down the Justice League, on his own! Out of most of the characters on this list (next to my number one choice), Deathstroke is the most deserving of his own Netflix show, let alone his own movie. Now there might not be a lot we can do with good old Slade, but luckily, I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now, so I got a pretty good idea of what DC can do with him. One idea is that we watch Slade complete contracts he took, like one episode can cover him taking down a drug dealer, another maybe a crimelord. Or they can just have Deathstroke take down say Black Mask, that would be something I wanna see! Heck, he can work for Black Mask and take out his competition! Now a Deathstroke series might not need a main villain of the season since he pretty much is a villain, but maybe have a hero he can encounter, and who else than Nightwing! I would say Batman, but I don’t know if DC would ever do it, so Nightwing is my next choice. The sequel to “Suicide Squad” and his role in the Batman solo movie are probably the only things that might not let this happen. But a Deathstroke series would be very unique.
Now drumroll for the number one DC character that deserves a Netflix series!
#1 The Question (Vic Sage)
Next to Deathstroke, Question is a character that needs a Netflix series, “Why a Netflix series instead of a TV show?” you ask. I feel like a thirteen episode series about a guy who wears a blue overcoat, blue fedora, and a faceless mask who runs around solving mysteries sounds like something up Netflix’s alley! The Question could be another show like “Stranger Things” and that could do some good for DC. Question is a very interesting and misused character overall, and I think he is more than deserving of a Netflix show. There is just so much you can do with him! I would also encourage bringing in Huntress. I picture it a little like the relationship between Daredevil and Elektra in “Daredevil” season 2, just not so…history related; Meaning they didn’t date in college or knew each other for a while. Question would just bring the crazy out of her. For the villain, I suggest Tobias Whale, he can provide a pretty good Kingpin to Question’s Daredevil. Overall, Question is just a great character overall and I think he deserves some DCEU treatment.
