Finally, after years of waiting, it finally happened! The Defenders has dropped and it was well worth the wait!! I don’t really see why some people are dogging on it. It was a great show!
Honestly (well, in my opinion), the only people who didn’t really care for the show are haters of Finn Jones and the Iron Fist and Luke Cage shows.
These people just need to learn to not get hooked up on everything.
Anyway, I loved the Defenders and feel like it was well worth the wait! Yes, it went by quick but boy was it an entertaining eight episodes! Right off the bat, we’re in the middle of the action. Danny and Colleen are hunting down the Hand, Luke is looking into a bunch of kids being used as a clean up crew, and Jessica and Matt are looking into a architecture firm. And it gets more intense from there! (Photo credit: Comic Book Movie)
It was a thrill ride filled with twists and turns in every episode!!
It felt good seeing Ritter again because we haven’t seen her since season one of Jessica Jones. In terms of her character, even though she stopped a purple wearing, mind-controlling British man; she still is a cranky/short tempered drunk. Nothing’s really changed with her besides her not wanting to be called a hero.
Matt. Matt, Matt, Matt. Unlike Krysten, I missed Charlie so much! He is pretty different from how we left off with him with Daredevil season 2. He has hung up the cowl and billy clubs and works to do justice through being an attorney. But here is the thing, Matt misses being Daredevil and you can see it when we first rejoin him. You can tell when he hears all the crime and commotion going on that he is struggling with ignoring it. And was something that appealed to me, Matts inner struggle to refuse to put the suit back on and fight crime because he promised his friends that he would stop being Daredevil. Like Jessica, Danny and Luke didn’t really change much in terms of their characters. Luke got out of prison and is now wanting to protect Harlem while Danny is running around the world, taking down the Hand. Danny also got a haircut.
And for the other side characters. Elektra just got brought back from the dead and made a killing machine who’s a bit screwy in some places. Misty is still a detective, Colleen is running around the world with Danny, Claire’s still Claire, Stick is captured by Alexandra but cuts his hand off and escapes, Foggy is still working for Hogarth, Karen is still writing, Trish is still doing Trish Talk, and Malcolm is providing Jess with a “intern”.
Anyone else sad we didn’t get to see Trish suit up as Hellcat? Welp, here’s to her suiting up in JJ season two.
Sigourney Weaver was a killer villain! She was cold, calculating, she just took charge when she walks into the room. She makes me think of her as a female Wilson Fisk. Yeah, that’s a long shot comparison but I feel like it’s there. Sadly, Alexandra wasn’t a big or small tear from the comics but I hope she gets added to the comic universe here soon!(Photo credit: CinemaBlend)
Everyone’s interactions in this team up was gold! Everyone had alot of great scenes together. Out of all the interactions, Danny and Luke had to be my favorite pair (second fav is Matt and Jessica). We got alot of Heroes for Hire vibes from Luke and Danny. If anything was to come out of the Defenders, it would be the demand for a Heroes for Hire team up.
Matt and Jessica’s scenes were just as good. They were really entertaining because Jessica kept busting Matts chops and making fun of his costume.
If only Matt knew about Jessica’s rejected Jewel costume.
The action was amazing! It was so well choreographed and executed. I just loved seeing everyone come together and start kicking some business suit clad butt! For those of you who didn’t really like the Iron Fist fight scenes, I suggest you give Defenders a try because they are a bit better than his fight scenes in his solo series. We did get a Hallway fight scene and it was glorious…for how short it was. (Photo credit: essential.tv)
For how short the series was, it was well worth the wait! This series met my expectations and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole season! And with how everything was left off, this show possibly changed the Netflix part of the MCU pretty greatly.
