Off the bat, I kept forgetting this movie was coming out and I wasn’t real hyped for the movie (I’m looking forward to “John Wick Chapter 2” to be honest.) I kept forgetting I was going to go see it to be honest, and that never happens to me! I’m usually excited for the new Marvel movie and I’m a Cumberbatch fan (not as big as one person I know.) But after seeing it, I have to admit, it was a REALLY good movie! It’s definitely one of the best Marvel movies.
This movie makes me want to learn the type of magic they used and become a magic using crime fighter! Oh my gosh that would make a good comic book series! Someone make it happen!
Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange was a match made in heaven! I knew seconds after the casting announcement this movie was gonna rock!
Just to think I fan-casted him (and two other people (one of them being Mads) as Klaw (or Klaue.)
(Remember?)
Glad he wasn’t chosen for Klaw, a chin strap beard would not look good on him. (plus my Cumberbatch fan friend possibly would have not liked the idea.)
Cumberbatch’s portrayal of Dr. Strange reminded me a lot of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, but he was more toned down and not so much of a douche.

Chiwetel Ejiofor was great as Mordo! (Photo credit: www.geekgirlauthority.com)
His scenes with Cumberbatch were the best scenes throughout the movie in my opinion. I really look forward to see their relationship fueled into a rivalry!
Chiwetels scenes with Tilda Swinton were pretty good as well, I could just feel the master, apprentice relationship. The character chemistry was great all-around!(Photo credit: marvel.com)
I knew that Mordo was going to go down a dark path at some point during the movie, and I’m pleased with how they did it. And after the end credits scene, I instantly knew that Chiwetel is going to be a great MCU villain.
Speaking of Mordo, I need to get that 101 out because the movie deviated from his actual origin.
Mads Mikkelsen was a pretty good villain. Yeah, the villain he was cast as is a nobody and the name is forgettable, but Mads made up for that by being menacing! I mean Mads out menaced James Spader in my opinion. (Photo credit: Comic Vine)
Mads had a few lines in the movie, but that’s the beauty of Mads. The man doesn’t have to say anything! He is still terrifying when he isn’t saying anything! It’s why he is a great villain actor!
Tilda Swinton was pretty loveable as the Ancient One.(Photo credit: Screen Rant)
Next to Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton had great chemistry with everyone! I knew she was going to die in the movie and I was expecting myself to be all “meh.” I was so butt hurt when she died!
I loved Wong! I really enjoyed his character!
Like Swinton and Ejiofor, Wong had some good interaction with Cumberbatch. I look forward to see him in Infinity War along with Cumberbatch.
Now, let’s talk the special effects.
Not only did these special effects give me an idea of what it might be like to be on acid, but they have made Dr. Strange the most visually stunning Marvel movie since “Ant Man”!(Photo credit: www.pinterest.com)
Everything was gorgeous!
The action sequences were very unique and different from all the other Marvel films. Like the special effects, these fight scenes were spectacular and visually stunning! Don’t really have much else to say about them, they were just REALLY well done.
The comedy was very well done as well. I feel like in some MARVEL films, they force the comedy; but the comedy in this one felt very natural and not so forced (an example being the funny bits in the scenes with Wong and Dr. Strange.)
Overall, this is a solid 10/10 in my book! The build up was well handled, the comedy felt natural, there was a great story, and the action sequences were really well done.
