I saw “Assassin’s Creed” last week. I did hear negative things about the movie, but I did not let that affect MY opinion of the movie.
I walked into the film with zero expectations. Overall? I actually enjoyed it and found it very true to the video games!
I honestly don’t see why people are dogging on it. I didn’t see any problems with the movie.
When I first heard that Fassbender would be playing an all original assassin and not one from the games, I was kind of upset because I REALLY wanted to see the video game characters come to life. But, I grew to like Callum and Aguilar.
Callum had a pretty good back story! His father (who was an assassin) murdered his mother (who was ALSO an assassin) and he spent most of his life as a criminal. His death is then faked after he was arrested and sentence to death, and he is used by Abstergo to look for the Apple of Eden. (Photo credit: www.superherohype.com)
I know some people are butt-hurt that we didn’t get to see a lot of Aguilar. I was a tad upset; however, in my opinion, the Callum moments of the film were awesome!
When I first heard Jeremy Irons was going to be in the movie as Rikkin, I was like “What is Irons thinking? He isn’t a videogame movie type of actor.” But after seeing him in the movie, I was glad that he was added into the movie because he was awesome! He very much captured the personality of Rikkin in the video games. (Photo credit: Nerdist)
Marion Cotillard was really good in this movie! Throughout the movie, she just plays with your emotions! One second I’m like “Oh I love you! I hope you and Callum fall in love!” And then I’m like, “I don’t like you. To think I was shipping you and Callum!” Her scenes with Jeremy Irons were fantastic! I could feel that father and daughter relationship between the two of them. I look forward to see what they’re going to do with her character in the next couple of movies.
Yeah, you heard me. The producers have plans for two sequels!
I would talk about other characters in the movie like Michael K. Williams character and Brendan Gleeson, but they didn’t really have that BIG of a role in the movie. I do feel like Michael K. Williams could have a bigger role in the sequels. (If the sequels happen of course.) I was disappointed Ariane Labed (Maria) did not have a bigger role in the Aguilar segments of the film. I was very interested in their relationship.
I saw in a couple of reviews that people were not big fans of the action of the movies. In my opinion, the action was very loyal to the action in the game. I think the critics didn’t know that the action in the game is very intense and visually appealing. I can give you a list of Assassin Creed action moments that were a bit over the top and crazy, but turned out to be awesome!

Probably the one thing the movie didn’t do right was the present to past ratio. In the game, you spend most of the game in the past and about 5% or so in the present. In the movie it’s the other way around. But either way, the movie was very enjoyable for me.
